The True Measure of Success
We live in a world that celebrates the hustle, the constant striving, the checklist of achievements, the pursuit of “more.” Yet, somewhere between the doing and the having, many realize they’ve misplaced the feeling. Esther Hicks said, “The standard of success in life is not the things or the money—the standard of success is absolutely the amount of joy you feel.” In that one sentence, she turns the modern definition of success on its head. Real success is measured not by applause or accumulation, but by how alive, aligned, and joy-filled we feel each day.
When we make joy the measure of success, everything shifts. Priorities soften into purpose. We move into the awareness that every goal, every dream, every ambition is really a coded desire for the feeling of joy we believe it will bring. Joy isn’t the reward for success; it’s the path to it. Dr. Holmes wrote, “Life is not something to be endured, it is to be lived in joy, in a fullness without limit.” Holmes was saying, joy is creative energy. When we cultivate joy first, the good of God naturally unfolds through us. Success then becomes a natural consequence of our alignment with the omnipotent intelligence of Source expressing in right and perfect action as all that we are.
Rather than asking the question, “How much did I achieve today?” ask, “How much did I enjoy today?” Rather than measuring our value by productivity, let’s begin measuring it by how deeply we feel gratitude, connection, laughter, and peace. Let’s realign goals around experiences that expand and raise our vibration, rather than exhaust it. When we express what feels divinely right, we invite powerful demonstrations of Spirit’s goodness to unfold through every aspect of our journey.
Joy is the signature of the Divine within us. It spills over, empowers others, and becomes a living testimony of the good of God made visible as every aspect of our being. When you live as joy, you become a walking demonstration of divine harmony in motion. Allow the world to measure success however it wants. Allow yourself to measure success by the light in your eyes, the laughter in your breath, and the love that keeps flowing through you. In the language of Presence joy has always been the highest form of success, and you are living proof of this truth.
